I am currently in my 5th, and hopefully final, year as a Ph.D student at the University of California, San Diego, where as part of the Graphics Group I work with Henrik Wann Jensen and Matthias Zwicker in the area of rendering. Prior to coming to UCSD, I completed my undergraduate work in Computer Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in May 2003.
My current research interests are within high-quality rendering techniques, specifically global illumination and participating media, but also sampling and ray tracing. Key projects I have worked on have involved photon mapping, irradiance gradients, skin micro-structure generation, importance sampling BRDFs and environment maps, as well as software engineering of rendering systems. I have previously also worked in the area of complex implicit surface modeling in a team led by Prof. John C. Hart.
In my spare time I enjoy hiking, skiing, and photography. I also enjoy fiddling with 3D modeling and animation (mostly using Lightwave 3D) and working on my personal global illumination renderer.
